unnamedPlain and simple, CrossFit changed my life.  I was 28 years old with two children and about 50 pounds overweight when I was introduced to CrossFit.  I will never forget the day I completed my first W.O.D (workout of the day) living in Las Vegas at SinCity CrossFit.  The experience tested my mental and physical capacity to a degree in which I never thought a single workout could.  My first workout was a half Cindy (come to the gym and see what Cindy is about) and all I remember was in the last minute of the workout I couldn’t find the strength to complete a single pull up.  Standing in front of a bar that looked 100 feet tall I looked to my right only to see four other, completely random people, standing over me.  They were cheering me on, promising me that I had enough in the tank to finish this thing.  One member even ran over to me and added ANOTHER band to assist with my pull ups, and when I finished those pull ups I was greeted with pats on the back and high fives to celebrate the accomplishment.  At that very moment I realized that this was something special, something I would never stop doing.  Upon relocating to NJ I quickly found the nearest “box” to continue my new found journey towards being fit.  CrossFit 908 was where I landed and Tim Carroll was the fearless leader of this community.  Over the course of two years with the 908 crew my initial love for CrossFit transformed into a passion.  That passion triggered a desire to study….to research the best possible formula to achieve peak performance in mental and physical fortitude.  Years of studying and learning from the best landed me at the doors of Full Dimension CF.  It is here that I can lay it all on the line every day for each and every one of my clients, with one goal in mind… to bring out the very best version of themselves, just as I did when I first started CrossFit.

Coming from someone who never played any team nor colligate sports while growing up, I always considered myself to be in above average physical shape. I exercised on a regular basis, but only recreationally. I never considered the potential that true fitness had to offer because I was content at my current level, but that was when Crossfit came into my life. I discovered Full Dimension CF through my brother-in-law who was already a member. I walked into the box in the spring of 2012 and I have never looked back. Over the two years that I have been at FDC, I have discovered a new side of myself, a side that is ever striving for the next level of fitness and constantly feeds off competition and the energy of my peers. Never have I found a place where such an inclusive fitness plan has been administered so perfectly. Full Dimension CF cares not only about members’ performance inside of the gym, but how it carries over to the lives of the members outside of the gym. In the end, that is what Crossfit is all about, making life better not just physically, but mentally and emotionally as well. It is through this principle that I was hooked on Crossfit. I am genuinely excited that Crossfit has led me down this path, and I cannot wait to help everyone who walks through the doors of FDC find their own path.

Jill Weinreb TrainerFor well over 25 years I have been involved in fitness, whether it be running, spinning, kickboxing, weight machines, you name it! I read about CrossFit, followed some athletes on social media and attempted to train myself at whatever gym of the month I had belonged to at that time. Just me and my headphones. I remember walking into Full Dimension CrossFit over 2 years ago, after a friend told me to check it out and immediately thought “I need to do this NOW!” SO, I decided to go with my thoughts and do this now, which was one of the best decisions I have ever made. It was no longer me and my headphones, but an entire community of people working so hard together to achieve results. I remember people, strangers at the time cheering for me to complete a workout, or even just standing close by to provide moral support. I had never experienced anything like it. The day I started CrossFit I was told to trust the process, so I did. At the age of 43, I can truly say that I am in the best shape of my life! My physical and mental strength are beyond anything I ever thought they could be. I want to share my passion for this sport with others and am dedicated to providing the coaching, help, motivation and support that I receive here on a daily basis.

Just know, you can do anything you put your mind to, there’s something magic that happens at CrossFit.

Steph Moccio

Steph Moccio TrainerUnlike most people, I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I signed up for my first CrossFit class. My friend had joined and recommended that I try it, as he knew I was bored of the whole “Globo gym” scene. But, to be honest, I initially just wanted somewhere to go after work to avoid traffic on the Garden State Parkway! Little did I know how much joining a CrossFit gym would change my life.

Prior to joining, I could barely run a mile without stopping to walk. I couldn’t lift a barbell overhead, let alone for multiple reps. I had no idea how to do a push up from the ground or even begin to attempt a strict pull up. Fast forward to a few years later at Full Dimension CrossFit, and I’ve been able to do everything I couldn’t, and then some. I have since hit multiple personal records over the years with weights I used to dream of.

I’ve made more than just a physical transformation at FDC, as I have a new found confidence that has transferred into my work and personal life. I have pushed myself to do things outside of the scope of my normal routine: learning to snowboard, running a 5k, competing in CrossFit competitions, joining a volleyball team, etc. Since joining, I have made other positive lifestyle changes including improving my nutrition, mobility, and overall attitude. FDC helped me to realize that every single day is an opportunity to improve myself, both inside and outside of the box, and as a coach, I hope to motivate and inspire others to reach their personal goals as well!

Ilene Winters

image1 (1)Ilene has always been interested in playing – sports, athletics, and anything outdoors. She is now in her 50’s, and doesn’t intend to quit playing anytime soon! She learned to stand up paddle board recently, and has AT skiing on her list for this winter and surfing for this summer. She thanks Greg Glassman for encouraging others to “regularly learn and play new sports”.

An endurance athlete that found CrossFit in 2010, Ilene has incorporated it in to her swimming, biking, and running. She had a Half Marathon PR in 2012, with a time that qualified her for the NYC Marathon. A long time runner and cyclist, Ilene completed her first Half Ironman distance triathlon and attributes CrossFit for her strong finish. She now coaches others to compete in endurance events.

Alex Rosenwald TrainerI was bored at the gym. I would put in my headphones, speak to no one, do 30 minutes on the treadmill, then the same routine of lifts I had been doing since my collegiate swimming days. Day after day, week after week. I was in shape, experiencing the same music, same movements and same boredom. A bunch of friends and colleagues had started with CrossFit, and encouraged me to give it a try, despite my hesitance about what I’d seen and read about online. I took a chance, trying out some classes at Full Dimension CrossFit in January of 2013, and I have never looked back since.

The team at FDC provided me with a structure of what appeared to be random workouts, but were actually designed with broader goals for improvement. I have progressed from being in relatively decent shape, to being stronger, faster and healthier than I have since my college days. The programming has provided me the foundation for fitness to achieve some of my race goals, having completed multiple sprint triathlons, a half-marathon, and a half-Ironman triathlon while training at FDC. It has given me the tools to step out of my comfort zone and participate in endurance events like Tough Mudders and GORUCK challenges. Stated simply, Full Dimension CrossFit brought my fitness and confidence to a level I thought was long since unattainable.

As a high school physics teacher, it is my nature to want to see improvement in people and to do whatever I can to help support their growth. I am proud to be a part of the team at Full Dimension CrossFit, and hope that I can have the same impact on every person who walks through the door into our gym. Whatever your age, whatever your ability, whatever your goals, I look forward to helping you work to achieve them.

As a three sport athlete, sports has always been a passion of mine. From High School to College, playing football at an advanced level, pushed me to exceed optimal fitness and strength. Training hard is and always has been a big part of my life. My training and eagerness to learn never stopped. It forced me to want more out of fitness. This lead to boxing and the opportunity to study Muay Thai and Brazilian Jui Jitsu for three plus years. Sports has always played a huge role in my life and to this day it still does. I love the competitive aspect, the camaraderie and being a part of something bigger than yourself.

As I got older my life took a wrong turn. I found myself in the grips of addiction. My life spiraled out of control and so did my health. After struggling to find myself for over 10 years I decided to get help. I knew it needed to start with me wanting to making changes, just like fitness and health. When I came home I made a decision to turn my life around and make things right. I got myself back into a regime of working out and eating healthy. I started boxing again and doing boot camps but I wanted more, I wanted to feel the love and passion like I did on the field. So when my sister-in-law mentioned she was going to try this Crossfit gym I was all for a new challenge. Little did I know what I was getting into, Crossfit not only was the challenge and adventure I was looking for but I had that light bulb moment. My love of Crossfit immediately became my happy place not only because of the adrenaline rush but because it made me question everything I’ve done up till that point in terms of fitness.

Five years later Crossfit is a huge part of my life. The workouts are as challenging for the body physically as they are demanding mentally. The battles I go through on a daily basis in the box helps me deal with the battles that go on outside the box. As a coach I can only hope to motivate and inspire to help push you to achieve things you never thought were possible. But they are! Crossfit has changed my life and it will change yours too with my help. Are you ready to be part of something bigger than yourself?

CrossFit changed my way of thinking when it came to being “fit”. I admit, I was one of those guys who came into his first class and saw that is was only a ten minute workout and then proceeded to be mopped off the floor completely humbled by the experience. I was always active in sports, but as life happens to do it’s thing I began to gain weight and become less and less active. Only after I helped a co-work and friend setup his box in Bernardsville, I had decided to try it. Once I did, I realized that everything I did prior to that moment was completely lacking and I needed more.

For those who know me, it may come as a complete surprise to know prior to stepping into that CrossFit gym back in 2007, I had never cleaned, Jerked, Snatched or even Front Squatted before. Fast forward a few years later, I have become certified as a CF OLY Trainer, attended multiple CF & USAW Olympic Lifting, Strongman & Power Lifting seminars, met world renowned Olympic coaches and lifters and even started my own Olympic lifting class in four different CrossFit gyms. It has become my outlet, my passion my calling even. To be able to teach new athletes how to perform these very technical movements and to see them perform them well is the greatest reward possible.

Without CrossFit, none of the above would be possible. And for that I’m a better athlete and more importantly, a better person.

I’ve always been pretty active throughout my life. I played football and baseball when I was younger and have always gone to the gym. It was always more to achieve a certain look; Chest on Monday, Arms on Tuesday, Back on Wednesday, Thursday was Shoulders, Friday would be Legs (rarely doing squats) and maybe Saturday would be abs. The 3 years before I joined Crossfit I would gain 20-30 pounds during the winter and then hit the gym hard to lose it by the summer time. Once I joined Full Dimension that all changed.

I have friends that wanted me to join Crossfit because they thought I would like it. My answer? “What that ridiculous workout where people are flopping around on the bar and getting hurt all the time? No, thank you.” Well, I finally gave it a try when a friend of mine finally convinced me to try it out. I stepped into Full Dimension Crossfit, met Rick and he explained the WOD (workout of the day). Deadlifts, running, burpees. Deadlifts were at 225 lbs. Easy. I do more than that at Gold’s. I remember Rick telling me to lower the weight but I had an ego, I could do anything you could. By the end of that WOD I was jacked up. My legs were jelly, I could barely breathe, I laid on the floor for awhile seeing stars trying to recover. I was hooked.

Crossfit challenges me mentally as much as it challenges me physically. I had to push myself to finish that first WOD and I continue to push myself every time I step foot in the box. Everyday is a different challenge. All that pain, the sweat, the blood (my shins will forever be scarred) are all worth it. It has become a passion of mine and I try to bring that passion to every class I coach.
I hope that my love for this sport comes through each class and I am able to inspire other athletes to follow their fitness goals.
